ADB to assist in management of safe drinking water supply in Nepal
YOKOHAMA - Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced to assist in the management of drinking water supply and capacity building in Nepal's small cities.
The assistance announced at a press conference organized on the topic of 'Conservation of water in Asia and ADB's role in building residential city' that has been attended by journalists from the total 16 developing countries in the Asia-Pacific Region.
The program was organized on the occasion of golden jubilee of the Bank that will start from tomorrow (Thursday).
Addressing the conference, ADB technical advisor Vijay Padmanabhan said small scale drinking water project assisted by the ADB in Lekhnath Municipality have benefitted around 2.7 million people.
He said an agreement has been signed with an Australian company for cooperation and providing training to help in expanding the administrative efficiency of Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited and its property management.
ADB Deputy Director informed that ADB would invest USD 4.2 billion for a production of electricity and in the management of water sources, watershed conservation, irrigation, drainage management and drinking water supply in all 47 countries in the region this year.
