Use of sex toys on the rise in Kavre
Kavre, October 2
Ranjit Bohora, owner of sex toy shop in Banepa delivered a sex toy to Anita Tamang (name changed) of Dandapari recently. Anita’s husband, who works in Dubai, had made online payment for the sex toy. Her husband had left for foreign employment three years ago.
“Some men who leave for foreign employment purchase sex toys for their partners,” Ranjit said.
As many as 21 migrant workers purchased sex toys for their wives in the past month alone. Six other migrant workers made online payment to deliver sex toys to their wives. As many as seven women from Kavre made online payment for sex toys during the period.
According to Ranjit, online order for sex toys has increased from neighbouring Ramechhap and Sindhupalchowk districts as well.
Samip of Mahabharat Rural Municipality, who is preparing to fly to Malaysia in a month, bought a sex toy for his wife on Friday.
“I bought one for my wife so that she could fulfil her sexual desires during my absence,” Samip said. He added that he had bought sex toy for his wife as he had seen married women having extra marital affairs while their husbands were away for employment in foreign countries. Unmarried girls and women too are found using sex toys.
The use of female sex toys is also getting popular as women are also heading to foreign job destinations due to lack of employment opportunities at home. Unmarried men and those whose wives are working abroad too are using female sex toys.
Illicit and extra marital affairs have broken homes of many people in Kavre. More than 150 cases of domestic violence stemming from illicit relationship were registered with Kavre police in the last fiscal.
Against such backdrop, sex toys are expected to lessen illicit and extra marital affairs. Bohora said when he set up the shop three years ago, he sold only condoms and other contraceptives. “For the past two years, sale of sex toys has soared,” said Bohora.
