Absconding mastermind behind explosion at Jhapa church arrested
KATHMANDU: An absconding mastermind behind explosion at the Emmanual Wesleyan Church in Jhapa district has finally landed in police net on Wednesday.
Issuing a press statement, Metropolitan Crime Division said 39-year-old Bijaya Sharma aka Madhav Prasad Bhandari of Hatiya-5 in Makwanpur district, currently residing at Maharajgunj, was arrested from Ramshah path today.
Hindu Morcha Nepal co-ordinator Bhandari had detonated explosive at the Emmanual Wesleyan Church at Khajurgachi-6 in Jhapa district, on September 15, 2015 at around 11:20 pm, as stated in the statement.
The religious group resorted to violent protest after the Legislature-Parliament had endorsed secularism in the constitution of Nepal. The group demanded that Nepal be declared as Hindu State in the world.
Meanwhile, police are preparing to file a case under the Explosive Act 1961 and Prevention of Organised Crime Act 2013 against the suspect, it said in the statement.
