HUAWEI Y6 II
We consider most phones priced below R3 000 to be entry-level, but this model gave us reason to rethink that definition. While it is certainly not competing with the pure horsepower and smart camera quality of higher-priced phones, it offers a very decent 13 MP shooter, a wide-angle 8 MP front shooter and a bright and sharp 5.5” screen – by far the biggest and best looking in this price bracket. We also enjoyed the patterned, textured back cover, which gave it a distinctive and classy look, and made it that bit easier to keep a grip on.
What’s missing?
Huawei’s nag screens are a real dealbreaker for us. The constant pop-up screens forcing one into signing up to Huawei’s unwanted services soured the whole experience.
